Next, summarize the requested observations per observing run. Replicate the
\begin{ObservingRun}
...\end{ObservingRun}
block for each additional observing run as needed. A list of all telescope,
secondary cage, and instrument configurations, and their proper identifiers,
is given in § 9. In the first column is indicated
whether or not proposals for that particular configuration are solicited in
the present Call for Proposals. In column (5) is indicated whether or not
the instrument is a PI instrument. If so, then the proposers must obtain
permission for use of the instrument from the instrument PI and arrange for
certification. The final column lists a brief description of each
instrument. Should you notice any omission, please contact the TAC chair.
\begin{ObservingRun} \telescope{} % Enter the telescope identifier, e.g. 'MMT' % (without the quotes) \secondary{} % Enter the telescope secondary cage identifier, % e.g, 'f/9' (without the quotes) \instrument{} % Enter the instrument identifier, e.g. 'Blue' % (without the quotes) \piflag{} % Enter 'true' if this is a PI instrument. You % must obtain PI approval for its use before % submitting your proposal. Default 'false'. \numnights{} % Enter the number of nights you are requesting % even for queue-scheduled instruments. Round % to the nearest half a night, e.g. '2.5'. \nightsky{} % Enter one of 'bright', 'grey', or 'dark' to % specify your sky brightness contraints. % Justify your selection in the Experimental % Design section. \optimalmonths{} % Enter the optimal month-range for the proposed % observations using three-letter abbreviations % for the months seperated by a double-dash, % e.g., 'Sep--Oct' or 'Jan--Jan'. \acceptablemonths{} % Enter the acceptable month-range for the % proposed observations using the same format, % e.g., 'Sep--Nov' or 'Dec--Feb'. \sharingpossible{} % Enter 'true' or 'yes' if sharing of nights is % possible; default is 'false'. \sharingadvisable{} % Enter 'true' or 'yes' if sharing of nights is % advisable; default is 'false'. \end{ObservingRun}
An alternate run to a given observing run, i.e., a different
telescope/instrument configuration that would suffice to achieve the
same science goals, may be specified within a
\begin{AlternateRun}
... \end{AlternateRun}
block, an
example of which is shown below.
Note that the total of primary and alternate runs should not exceed 12 lines on the proposal cover page. If more than 12 runs are being requested, attach an additional page to provide the extra information.
