And now we arrive at the final scheduled observing campaign at the
Kuiper Telescope and for the entire blazar monitoring campaign. The
installation of SPOL on the 1.54m telescope coincided with the first
monsoon action of the 2018 season. Numerous thunderstorms popped up
during the afternoon, but none hit the Mt. Bigelow observatory.
By sunset, the storms had died out, but debris clouds were around for most
of the night. Clouds formed and dissipated over the mountain throughout the
night and were at their worst during the first few hours. Although a lot of
cloud dodging had to be played, Campaign 112 got off to a good start and
most blazars on the July target list were observed, with even photometry obtained
for several objects.
