Weather Report for April 13, 2018

Campaign 109 ends with a very interesting night of weather at the Kuiper Telescope. A major dry cold front passed through Arizona tonight, creating windy conditions and a lot of dust in the valleys. On Mt. Bigelow, it was hazy with dust, but nothing too serious to threaten observations. The temperature dropped nearly 20 deg F during the night and by dawn it had reached the freezing point. This is rather incredible given how warm the previous nights in the campaign have been. As a consequence of this drastic temperature change, the seeing was poor (2.4-4 arcsec). There were some clouds early in the night, but the sky was clear well before midnight and stayed that way until morning twilight.

The Kuiper Telescope will host Campaign 110 in May.
