After a brief, largely unproductive visit to the MMT, SPOL returns to the Kuiper Telescope to observe blazars. Campaign 98 starts with a warm clear night and over 15 blazars observed. The seeing wasn't great, being typically 2-2.5 arcsec.
The satellite image shows the 2017 monsoon just south of Arizona in northern Mexico. At some point in the near future, this blob of moisture will move north, making astronomy from Arizona difficult. Fortunately, the weather forecast has the area staying dry for the next several days.
