Merry Christmas! Unfortunately, Santa Claus brought a lot of clouds and
wind to Kitt Peak. Only a few bright blazars could be observed through
thickening cirrus during the first few hours of the night in seeing of
about 2 arcsec. After that, the clouds became too opaque and the dome was closed. The sky cleared during the last hour of the night, but by then, the wind was hitting into the 40mph+ range with gusts probably well over 50mph.
Precipitation from this storm system is supposed to hit tomorrow night.
Bah, humbug!
