A winter storm hit Kitt Peak tonight with dramatically lower temperatures,
high winds, high humidity, and
some precipitation, but not before about a half dozen blazars could be
observed at the beginning of the night. The observations were
made in generally clear skies and poor
seeing (2-3 arcsec). At about 2200 local time, wind gusts of around 50 mph
shook the building and the dome was closed for the night. By the time the
wind diminished to below the safe limit, the humidity had risen past 90%. The
mountaintop was in a cloud cap by about 0100 local time.
