Optical observations for Fermi Cycle 4 are started early because of the appearance of SN2011fe in M101. Director's Discretionary Time is used starting tonight to observe the SN with SPOL at the Bok Telescope, which technically is still "shutdown" for its annual monsoon/maintenance period. No luck with the SN on this night because of thunderstorms in the area at the beginning of the night. These cleared off just before midnight and the rest of the night was used for the Fermi/Steward monitoring program (the SN had set long before the sky cleared).
