8.5.4 Abbreviations for journal names

Class file soprop.cls includes short-hand markup commands for many of the most commonly cited journals, consistent with those defined in the aastex class. Although the proposers are, of course, free to type in their journal name abbreviations by hand, these predefined markup commands will likely allow one to copy and paste from previously published lists of references if such were typeset using LATEX and used the aastex package. In the examples above, several such short-hand notations were used: A&A , AJ , MNRAS , and PASP . The table below lists all predefined abbreviations.
