The Call for Proposals (CfP) and the two LATEX2e files, soprop.tex
and soprop.cls
, constitute the proposal package.
Copy the template file soprop.tex
and associated class file to the same
directory and edit the template file using your favorite text editor.
Of course, you may rename the proposal template file for your new proposal.
Be sure to provide all required information for the proposal cover pages in
the template file (anywhere you see an empty pair of {}, information is
expected). The collection of information for the cover pages is followed by
the essay-style sectioning commands, similar to those in the old LATEX2.09
style file. The template file contains documentation on what information is
requested and the present document, the Call for Proposals, contains a table
summarizing for what configurations of telescope, secondary cage, and
instrument proposals are solicited.
After filling out the template form, compile it into a device independent DVI output file by typing:
If you see warning messages, other than generic Overfull \hbox
messages,
please follow the hints to resolve the problem(s). Considerable effort was
spent on having the soprop
class provide meaningful diagnostics. A
proposal that fails to compile without warning messages does not adhere to
the requirements.
To convert the DVI output format into printable PostScript format, type:
(if necessary, replace the -t letter
option with
-t a4
). The -Pamz -Pcmz
options provided to `dvips' cause all
fonts to be included in the PS file, ensuring faster and legible rendering of
the text on computer screens and platform independence. Should you wish to
create PDF (Portable Document Format) output instead, then (on linux systems)
type:
On Sun, Microsoft, and Apple machines, you may have PDF Distiller installed or other proprietary Adobe software to perform this task.
