Weather Report for September 17, 2011

The end of the monsoon is in site as dry air finally moves into southern Arizona. However, high humidity and occasional fog banks during the first half of the night prevented observations, so our final attempt at the M101 SN was a bust. Altogether, four high-S/N spectropolarimetric measurements of SN2011fe were made in 12 tries. Conditions rapidly improved after midnight and over a half dozen Fermi targets were observed with a waning gibbous moon in the sky. The seeing varied between 1.0 and 1.6 arcsec.

The official, scheduled Fermi/Steward Observatory blazar monitoring program will get started in 8 days (2011 Sep 26 UT) at the Bok Telescope.
