This is an illustrated cookbook for the 2.3-m Boller and Chivens Spectrograph. It follows the light path from the telescope to the detector in discussing the internal elements and their access. It is not a substitute for experience in understanding either the optical design or any current idiosyncracies of the instrument, underscoring the requirement for the first-time user to be checked out before a solo run.
We will use a boldface font to denote commands and settings issued by the user. The abbreviations ``CW'' and ``CCW'' denote ``clockwise'' and ``counterclockwise'' respectively. Also, the letters appearing in square brackets [ ] correspond to identifications in the illustrations of Appendix A (see below).
